CELEBRATING AN AUTHOR'S DREAM COMES TRUE!

Photo by Linda Mose Meadows @ Diva's Bookclub 2014

I would have been without hope if I had not believed that I would see the loving-kindness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13

This was an author's dream come true! Being the featured book of the month! So happy to be a part of the Divas Digest Bookclub in New Haven, Connecticut! Several weeks ago (April 2014) I had opportunity to share my literary and spiritual journey and engage in some wonderful, soul searching discussions. It was an honor to be the author for April's book selection, my devotional: The Blessedness of Believing A Devotional Journey Of Life's Lesson and God's Promises by Linda Mose Meadows!

I truly feel overjoyed to say, "Thank you for the expressed enthusiasm Divas Digest! You blessed me tremendously! It was an honor!" Indeed I am a witness of the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU! BLESSINGS TO OUR BELOVED MEN: A FATHER'S DAY TRIBUTE!

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

Jeremiah 29:11

Happy Father’s Day to all of the brothers, uncles, stepfathers, adopted Big Daddies and super fathers. You are our beloved men both young and old-standing in the gap for us: your children, loved ones and many others that depend and count on you!

Priceless is what you are! We cherish your loving guidance, coaching, strong silence, active participation, unique discipline, direction, no nonsense demeanor, humor, finances and constant prayers. Because God has fashioned you, we are confidently assured! There’s assurance that you’ll share your heart and be there to celebrate our accomplishments.

Thank you for providing the needed support and love on those countless occasions…Yes, we know without a doubt that you like our Heavenly Father are a present help! Take a look in the mirror and confidently realize that you are an awesome help especially when we are experiencing hardships, moments of being left out in the rain, waiting in the corridors confused, perplexed, and seemingly abandoned.

Like the countless nights you patiently sat between the door and the phone anticipating our return home; greeting us with a firm scolding.

When you gave your last few dollars, knowing full well a paycheck was weeks away;

When you told us so and reminded us that you weren’t surprised with the outcome;

When you planted that kissed on our foreheads, hugged our shoulders and encouraged us to be calm and not utter a word;

When we made that dreaded phone call and got a surprising conversation that changed our outlook and lifted our spirits;

When you sat on the floor with the other parents as we served you Peanut Stew and recited our poems;

When we felt embarrassed by your school visit, but later appreciated how you demonstrated your concern by your active involvement.

Oh the gratitude list grows moment by moment. You are doing an exemplary job! Thank you for being a steady stream, an anchor and our strength! We praise God for your wonderful presence. May you continue to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit! Remember God has a plan for you, the Holy Scripture says so!

Enjoy your day and this virtual gift of this TD Jakes video. We love you truly, Happy Father’s Day!

Reader's With Attitude Book Review: The Blessedness of Believing

The Blessedness of Believing Author: Linda Mose Meadows
Rating: 5

This is a wonderful devotional book that will have you understanding why we must never forget how blessed we are. Believing has the power to get people through the toughest of times.

If ever you need rejuvenation in hope, this is the book to pick up! Reminders of God and his promises to never leave or forsake us is intertwined within these pages. God’s sovereignty of being yea and amen is awesome and present in this book.

You can also find great enhancements of reinforcing your beliefs. This book also helps us to pray effectively. You don’t have to read in order of the book. You can just read according to your need. There was nothing that I didn’t like about this book. Any book that helps Christians have a better relationship with God, our father (Abba) is alright with me!

APPRECIATING YOUR SIMPLE ABUNDANCE

Saturday, was another blessing from God. I had the opportunity to be invited as guest speaker during The Episcopal Church Women of the St. Augustine Episcopal Church's 29th Annual Prayer Luncheon. I am so greatful for all the positive feedback and wonderful outpouring of love. It was evident from the comments and affirmation that God had touched our hearts and minds! Their theme was: Take Time to Smell The Roses and my addendum was: AKA Appreciating Your Simple Abundance.

I've commanded you to be strong and brave.

Don't ever be afraid or discouraged !

I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9

In summation we are very busy living, too busy to smell roses and missing out on the big picture of life. Our homes , our sacred spaces are meant to be retreats and safe harbors where we dock our weary souls, tired minds, and our beleagures spirts when not another place will suffice. It's good to have a place to rest and call home.We cherish our things and our stuff: artifacts, baskets, adornments, furnrnishing, but what's residing in our hearts?

What's in the corridors, the resesses of our hearts and minds- what comfortably is taking lodging at home in our hearts? These are the questions in my spirit, that cause me to reflect.

Could it be an umbrage, a resentment, a spirit of just not good enough, a buried hurt, a pain that we can't shake? Are we being unloving or dissappointed by some life circumstance? Certainly I can't act as though I am exempt. But hopefully a new resident has lodged in our hearts and is taking over: redemption and her children, thanksgiving and their offspring, joy and his cousins: love, adoration, celebration, forgiveness and grace?

What things are we passionate about? When do you feel most at home and who's at the core- the center? Possibly you've invited Jesus!

Is anybody at home who really cares to take time and smell the roses? Well while we mull over that concern, enjoy Stephanie Miss singing Home:

In our desire to smell the roses and appreciate simple abundance let me encourage you to take inventory of your personal effects- reflect on God's word ( find scriptures that line up with your personal effects):

  • Waxing /cleaning the floors-think about the Lord's power and majesty (i.e. ThePsalm :5,6)

  • Communication/How we speak to each other/ God gives us clear instructions for powerful living.

  • Bags of potting soil-sowing good seeds-reap a harvest here in this life and the life to come.

  • Tool chests, with nails, hammers etc.: what relationships need to be repaired?

  • Baskest- what's overflowing? Share your joy, your gifts, your peace, passions and time!

  • Shoes-give feet to faith! Get moving, believe and trust God to realize your dreams, your desires!

  • Dishes-what love are your serving up today?

  • Linens: be secure in God's word! Wrap yourself up in them.

  • Music- what melody is playing in your heart?

  • Candles- we are the light of the world, we're ambassadors for Christ!

  • Clothing-dress yourselves in the fruit of the spirit: joy, gentleness, love, meekness, peace, temperance etc.

  • Chest of drawers/dresser- what's tucked away that needs to be pulled out and reexamined?

  • Curtains/Shades: pull back, lift up the shades and don't be afraid to let the light of the Lord expose/ shine on the interiors of your lives.

REMEMBER! IT'S PRAYERS THAT:

Permeate the walls of our homes, prayers to the most high God that refresh our spirit and wash us brand new.

Make it tolerable to place keys in locked doors of life's struggles that otherwise would have forever remained locked.

That cause us to love and celebrate home even with it's imperfections.

That bathe the heart and soothe the weary for soul for just another stretch of this natural and spiritual journey.

Oh my friends, it's a new season, its taking an honest look at our inventories and making us appreciate God/Jesus, our Lord and Savior, our relationships, nature, and the many blessings that are bestowed upon us and then it's easy to smell the roses and appreciate the view!

EGO TRIPPING- DECLARE TO THE WORLD, " I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE!"

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13,14 (New International Version - UK)

Happy Friday my friends! For many of us it’s a day to slow our pace, smell the roses, breathe and acknowledge that it’s a TGIF (Thank God’s It’s Friday) moment. We’ve been through many emotional roller coasters-but we made it. I wanted to just share something inspirational to help you jumpstart your weekend. Think of this as a work reprieve.

Yes, I am sure your agree respite is in order, but it’s appropriate, I believe to first acknowledge God for his sweet grace and mercy! He has seen us through another week! As we prepare to enter into a more relaxed mode I wanted to provide you with some inspirational jazz music from a festival; but I really didn’t locate what I had desired, so I thought instead; I’ll let you select your own favorite artists but delight you with one of my favorite poetess.
Yes, she’s the incomparable, the magnanimous, the genius, the marvelous, the wonderful Nikki Giovanni. This seasoned, sanctified poet will delight your senses and lift your spirits. You’ll really celebrate her creativity and brilliance of conveying who’s you are and to whom you belong! In our spirits friend we can confidentlyego trip (the holy scripture gives us divine license) to comfortably declare to the world:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139: 13,14 (New International Version - UK)

Take a moment to enjoy this you tube video of Nikki’s poem: Ego Tripping and thank the person who wonderfully selected images that reflect Nikki’s expressions. And for those that aren’t familiar with “bad” in the vernacular it means awesome. Keep ego "tripping ya'll" God is well aware of our praise and thanksgiving!

EGO TRIPPING BY NIKKI GIOVANI

Ego Tripping by Nikki Giovanni (1973)

I was born in the Congo.

I walked to the Fertile Crescent and built the sphinx.
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls
into the center giving divine perfect light.
I am bad.
I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with Allah.
I got hot and sent an ice age to Europe
to cool my thirst.
My oldest daughter is Nefertiti.
The tears from my birth pains
created the Nile.
I am a beautiful woman.
I gazed on the forest and burned
out the Sahara desert.
With a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes,
I crossed it in two hours.
I am a gazelle so swift,
so swift you can't catch me.
For a birthday present when he was three,
I gave my son Hannibal an elephant.
He gave me Rome for mother's day.
My strength flows ever on.
My son Noah built an ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day.
I turned myself into myself and was Jesus.
Men intone my loving name.
All praises all praises,
I am the one who would save.
I sowed diamonds in my back yard.
My bowels deliver uranium.
The filings from my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels.
On a trip north,
I caught a cold and blew
my nose giving oil to the Arab world.
I am so hip even my errors are correct.
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went.
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents.
I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal.
I cannot be comprehended except by my permission.
I mean...I...can fly
like a bird in the sky...
