WE ARE WHO GOD SAYS WE ARE!



I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (NIV) Psalm 139:14

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous--how well I know it. (NLT) Psalm 139:14


There are so many confounding labels and marketing campaigns attempting to redefine and label us. Just watch a football game or a reality show, and count the endless commercials, observe and listen to their messages, can you detect what's for sale? And be oh so careful because when you decide to go shopping your carts will be filled with items that you hadn't initially intended on purchasing! The marketing guru's are very convincing! Print media does a fine job at selling us things, especially our children! We fall prey and before long we have adopted the subliminal advertisers messages. Their techniques are subtle but effective and we tell ourselves that we can't live with out the electronic gadgets, the food, and the "gear". Advertising is a billion dollar industry creating slick, sleek, eye catching ads which work tirelessly to  bribe us into believing that we can be better, smarter, thinner and accomplished if we have "their" brand, "their" products and "their" services. But it's never free, it costs and there are consequences!  If only we buy the right make-up, the bigger bling, the smart and fashionable furnishings, the expensive perfumes and the correct fiber foods-whatever the day's hot commodity is, once acquired, then and only then  will we "A-ok" !


But when the rubber meets the road and life's issues begin to take precedence over the mounting acquisitions of more stuff, and none of it does the trick for addressing our personal and spiritual development. So what does?  What will and can be replaced with our retail therapy, cluttered mindset and desire to have more? I believe I know what can halt the thirst or quench and deliver or parched souls. Possibly it's an elixir of truth about who's we are and to whom we belong. You need not spare any of your hard earned dollars, just know that your bill was paid at Calvary. Jesus did it for us! There are no price comparisons required or merchandise to be had. Only requirement that you need embrace is a willing heart, a renewed mind and an active search-a knocking if you will, a heartfelt searching! Yes, we need only participate in searching for an everlasting truth! A truth that beckons us to embrace a life sustaining friendship where if we knock God answers.

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. NLT Matthew 7:7

"Knock and the door will be open." Try an application of divine love. Love that delivers us and answers to questions that your soul is begging for! The advertisers dare not convey your beloved identity! If they told you, you'd have no need for their stuff, their trinkets, their clothing, their lipsticks, their enhancers and certainly not their footware. Just think of what the Divine desires to share with you regarding your true identity and purpose. Oh my friend, it exceeds the messages we are daily bombarded with. Your are more then adequate in Jesus Christ-triumphant, energized and delievered! Think of what God offers you and yours as a heathy alernative, a Holy Ghost elixir an infilling that will never rust or corrode. Here are several encouraging bible scriptures that will delight your very being! Scriptures that reveal who we are in Christ Jesus and what a King and Lord that is in love with you, thinks of you and me!

Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, He dwells in us

We are joined in the Lord and am one spirit with Him .

God leads us in the triumph and knowledge of Christ .

Truly it's personal! And does it ever take work focusing on our personal, spiritual development!
But the benefits outway the failed attempts to kill our progress. The benefits indeed are powerfully positive-our generations to come will reap the harvest because we are heathy and generational bondages won't be able reek havoc. There's not a thing that the advertisers can sell me that God won't and can't provide. But we must seek Him, pray for continued guidance and sustenance! Come on friends let's stay connected to the tree of life. It's all in the Bible, the Holy Scriptures!  God reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! We rejoice in the commitment of our growth! Thank you Lord for the awakening our spirits, We are who you say we are!

GOD'S PLAN PREVAILS

One thing spontaneously spring boarded into the next this morning. I awoke so anxious about our son. (Scripture warns us against being anxious but admittedly my thinking over- rode that truth.) He’s miles away and my discerning internal radar was quite active! Ever had that foreboding feeling? Well that’s what seemed to have latched onto me and I refused to ignore it! Although Mike's a young adult I still have hidden maternal concerns. (Obvious to many I am sure.) I recalled having a dream that Mike was an infant again and I was cradling him. Apparently there had been multiple events occurring in the dream and I just wasn’t able to make sense of it, but in my spirit I felt an urgency to spiritually connect with him, to reach out and hear his voice. When I awoke I phoned him and began closely listening and then asking a series of questions. Bingo! I then learned what issues were of deep concern, shared my brand of advice and began to pray with him. This was no time for a “pitty pat” prayer, but instead to make an urgent petition to our Heavenly Daddy! A prayer to Abba Father declaring His-God’s word! It was time to begin proclaiming and decreeing Mike’s steps, loosing God’s plan  and binding the enemy’s hand through warfare praying! I’d like to believe we were handling God’s divine assigned business!

In prayer my intent was to audibly establish that the enemy’s plan was being demolished, thwarted no matter what it appeared to be and instead to trust that God’s plan would prevail.

 
At the conclusion or our prayer and conversation and saying, “Keep me posted, goodbye.” I dropped my head and prayed now with heart of elevated thanksgiving, I distinctly felt it, heard it- the words in my spirit, the tune, the melody and the song gurgling, welling up: Great Is Thy Faithfulness!  Instantly what I sang was my truth, my elder’s truth that: “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentation 3:23. The essence of this scripture was evident! It had a deeper meaning, a deeper significance as I reflected on this morning’s devotional of sorts.

 
The truth is clearer now that for all Believer’s that aren’t misguided by trials can fully acknowledge God’s outpouring love and mercy will remain irreversible. Thank you Holy Spirit with impressing upon us that God never snatches back His love and turns His back on us like some jilted lover. The song got so good to me that I googled the words: Great is Thy Faithfulness penned by Thomas Chisholm (1923):

 
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God, my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Lord, thank you for the watershed moments we experience in our waking hours.
Thank you for also allowing us to experience your paternal love in moments of reflection, prayer and song. We take comfort in knowing that you delight in our presence. We obtain so much positive validation when you allow us to commune with you in spirit and truth. Thank you for keeping chronos time at bay in order to absorb the lessons you wish to convey to us. Our heart matters and burdens are much lighter, the load less daunting because once again we’ve experienced the confirmation of your prevailing love and grace.  Your power endued upon us is life changing! We hear you, see you and feel you Lord! We are grateful for the Holy Scripture which reminds us that "No weapon formed against us shall prosper." And "Great is [your] faithfulness; [your] mercies begin afresh each morning.” I am singing Lord, we are singing your praises!  To you be all glory, dominion and power in the name of our benevolent Lord and Savior, in Jesus Christ we pray! Commissioned and Revived!


Do you remember these contemporary gospel groups: Men of Standard and Commissioned? I sure do love their ministries. I'm Standing In Your Will is the song that just seems to hang on in my spirit! Visit Youtube and have a personal praise fest! Rock and praise God with the gospel musical explosion of these balladeers. Several of them have ventured out and made solo careers for themselves. It's evident their sure foundation remains in Jesus Christ. Their lyrics still continue to encourage my heart!


Oh my, there were many early morning prayer and worship opportunities when I lived in Buffalo that I’d beat a path to Calvary Church now Elim and partake in a spiritual revival. This was before I reported to work at 8am! The revival was in the form of an early morning corporate devotional opportunity to engage in spirit filled prayer, praise and worship – invariably a song by Commissioned would be sung. And my friends it was all over but the shout!
You had to be there to experience it! Powerful! Yes, theses were powerful celebratory appointments with God!


This morning I am crisscrossing back down memory lane in my midmorning praise and worship thanks to Youtube, my holy scripture, a heartfelt prayer crafted with affirmations of scripture. And wouldn't you know it, some sweet memories of home would result. It's a warm 90 plus degrees outdoors now. No fret about warming up my car because of the frigid weather with icy and snowy roads to navigate. Yep, no beloved friends to squeeze into packed pews with, and no anointed psalmist to usher us into that inner sanctum. But, worship still occurs!


Thanks be to God, I am not alone as I sit in my kitchen reflecting and realizing that God dwells with me. There's revelation that I have the Holy Spirit. You too? This is a new level of praise and worship, quite intimate, it's a phenomenal gift. It's my opportune time to draw closer to Jesus. It’s some years later since Elim, and instead of congregating with others, I now find myself carving out me time daily with Jesus-reading my morning devotionals of The Blessedness of Believing, A Devotional Journey of Life's Lessons and God’s Promises by none other-me, Linda Mose Meadows (His Power At Work Within Us pg. 220) which celebrates our reliance on God and God’s divine power and love within us. I once again realize that in this new leg of my journey, that the Paraclete (Holy Spirit) abides, remains, revives, restores and renews my/our weary beings. Yes, we have a beautiful companion, a loving protector! We are not alone and can hold dear in our hearts those former days of biblical teachings and worship experiences which were designed to prepare us for these complex present days and moments ahead. Today’s readings are love notes that strengthen my soul. My spirit utters, "I'm going to make it! I'll survive this!" The Holy Spirit whispers through prayer and scripture that I am connected to the vine, my branches will not wither, droop and die in the heat of the day because of the divine commission and the blessed pronouncement that God’s presence is with me and you my friends!





You also can grab hold of this intimacy! Come on and be revived, tuck the scriptures in your heart! Dance in your prayer closets, your living rooms, close the doors to your office and breathe in this new numa, this restorative breath of life! Thank you Heavenly Father! Lord, we have a new level of love and appreciation for you! Thank you Jesus we are equipped stand ready for your arrival!

WORDS, USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION- IT'S SO IMPORTANT!

It’s no accident that my experiencing Bishop Vashti McKenzies’ Praycation set my day in motion. It had a tremendous domino effect. This soul satisfying spiritual retreat with participants from varying locations was compacted into approximately 40 minutes of uplifting prayer, scripture, exhortations and testimonies that provided excellent, yes restorative fuel for life's ongoing journey. But it truly was an elixir for the day. And it’s virtual to boot! It was by no means a passive experience, but a morning of giving and sharing! The many words spoken quenched my parched soul!


After receiving this spiritual fortification from Praycation, it was no happenstance that I'd be in a discussion with a dear friend on what it means to battle effectively; as folks would say, “Batlin hard!” in spiritual warfare. So there it was a day starting with the tools for acquiring spiritual muscle, followed by a discussion and application of taking that exercised muscle and punching the devil out instead of getting knocked out! But how? Hold on to that question friends. I believe the Holy Ghost will reveal the answer.


Let’s fast forward to Youtube. My dear sister friend urged me to check out Juanita Bynum and Dr. Cindy Trimm as I began deliberately speaking to my trials with authority using "kingdom language." I listened intently to the videos. It was clear that God had woven a theme throughout my aha moments for that day, and it all seemed to point in the direction of appreciating the significance of words spoken and the impact they have on us-past, present and future.


The word “impactful” not generally used, I feel is the most appropriate-from the very start of the day it was jammed packed with words reverencing God and my having divine authority to speak life into dying circumstances. We are encouraged to fashion our language with affirmations, abandoning a defeatist tone and a smoldering diatribe. Remember your mother saying, “Watch your mouth?” Well I was a mouthy youngster and sometimes my childish remarks crossed the line and warranted correction. It’s no mystery that well intentioned words shape and color our perplexed lives! It’s a fact that praising God one moment and spewing profanity or cursing another moment will potentially rock our worlds. One remark cancels out the other!


Our world is shaken to the core with words uttered in anguish, words spouted in thanksgiving, words expressed in conviction and yes, words pronounced in declaration!


Our presence is important, but our words fuel the course. We are atmosphere changers-it takes words! Yes, these words mark us. They permeate the atmosphere and set us up for eternity. Our children’s, children will know the impact. Words can empower us. Prayerfully we are now transforming our speaking and our thinking. Our thinking is aligned with the realization that God is the source and strength of our lives. These profound words can heal, but more importantly they usher in positive occurrences and improved realities are then manifested.


Ask Dennis Kimbro regarding his success and being the bestseller of : Live Your Dreams, Think and Grow Rich-he’ll tout that in his book: What Makes The Great, Great; one is that prayer is the greatest need. The words of prayer which aide in changing our thoughts to alter our condition! There it is!









Powerful Prayer !

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Words, words, refreshing words! Speak and declare that "God you are my God! " Relish in the natural and spiritual benefits of God’s Holy Word. As you break the cycle of negativity, take to heart that God's word will not return to you void. The more scripture you study, the better inclined you'll be to embrace transformative language and living. Be encouraged and meditate on all the attributes of a loving Lord and Savior!


Dr. Cindy Trimm says folks repeat what they hear. Don’t you love the truth? Change your destiny by changing your language. I have been enthralled with this realization. She inquires and asks the poignant question, “What are you feeding on?” And if I were to piggy back on that thought, my question to you would be: “What dialogues do you entertain with yourself and others?


Friends, never mind the grammar, it's good gospel ain’t it? Dr. Trimm says, we can download success into our day! So if we get in the mindset that we can decree doom, guess what? It will unfold! Imagine cultivating dread, pandemonium and being assured that and expecting it will springboard and blossom! It’s in our conversations, thinking, and actions! But the flip side is we have the power to manifest positive outcomes, decree and build formidable lives with wonderfully great outcomes.


Thank you Holy Ghost I am grasping this now. And Lord knows I want to jump up and down, because emotions have been the ruler over much of my conversations. But, today I am praising God for deliverance! Don’t tell me that listening to sage, anointed advice and reading scripture won’t usher you to higher heights! So here it is friends, if I think better of myself and apply these truths, God will bring it to past! Transformation is vital for our life and generations to come. We must select our choices. What’s your preference? Living or dying? I entreat you to choose life, it’s on the tip of your tongues.


It made sense that Paula White and Cindy Trimm are encouraging us to tape record our conversations! Many of us think that’s ridiculous, but what I am sure Paula's revelation is really reinforcing us to stop and begin to listen to our own words. These words are spoken often with no regard for the impact that they’ll have on us, our situations and circumstances. So if the words have hindered us and entrapped us, we ought to desire a shift, not to give in to the demonic forces that entrap us!


Let’s begin to break the pattern of negativity!


Whatever I bound in heaven and earth is loosed and bound! I must take authority
halt victim thinking and fix my thoughts. As Dr. Trimm says, “Press your ears to the word of God.”




Come on and get hungry! Where's your appetite for God’s truths: that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, created for such a time as this! No every day is not going to be blissful, but there’s no need to sit crouched in the dark room, shades drawn, awaiting the fall! We aren’t abandoned, but instead blessed and exonerated by His loving kindness and grace. We’re not thrown away-God is faithful. He is our banner, our strong tower, our help, our deliverer!

We can dismantle the architectural design of the enemy! It starts with our speech!




The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.

I must turn my words into ladders, rungs if you will that elevate me to possibility and prosperity thinking, not just for the material benefits but to be a spiritual trailblazer feasting on the knowledge to who I am and allow that spill into empowering language. Decree and declare friends!!!

GOD'S GOT A BLESSING WITH YOUR NAME ON IT!


And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who
love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28



If I didn’t know better I’d declare I created this Youtube video! Looks like my car, sounds like my radio and definitely resembles my morning commute. God’s Got A Blessing With your Name On It was blaring out my windows. Well know what? This morning at approximately 7:45 that was my song! Just like in the video that was me and possibly you listening to our favorite morning talk radio stations headed to work. It's routine, switching back and forth between my favorite radio stations and presto 88.1 was playing God’s Got A Blessing!




Well I safely arrived and it's mid-day, I am chuckling because I have a moment between work tasks and just decided to visit Youtube-so I believe. This just smacks of a divine set-up! I trust you'll agree that this is surely more providential than coincidence. Yes, friends my curiosity peaked when I had the option of selecting between two videos of Norman Hutchins and I decided to select this:






Notice the “red hood” ? Well the front end resembles my car. It surely looks like me navigating my way down the I-64 East. I recognized that many of us travel just this way to get to our daily JOB’s. That’s what we use to call it going to our JOB’s, cruising down highways across hamlets, cities, and the like. Some of us even have to travel by foot, wait at the dock to board the Ferry or jump on public transportation- our journey's would be incomplete without our electronic gadgets. Listening to our radios, ipods, and surfing the internet destination bound! We’re headed some place, determined to arrive. As I drove this morning and now for a few moments I am reflecting on what I witnessed yesterday evening, while millions of households already had learned what I feel compelled to rethink.



My mind raced back to Oprah Winfrey's website. After work I had an opportunity to read and watch several videos about Tyler Perry’s very emotional accounts of the disturbing childhood abuse he endured at the hands of some unscrupulous, despicable adults. You just never know what shapes and colors our lives. The abuse was horrific, sad, and tragic . But what stood out for me was that as difficult as it is to share humiliating incidents of any kind of abuse (sexual, emotional, physical etc.) I would wager that it’s probably more difficult to operate effectively with that stigma draped over ones life. But, thank God despite that the personal anguish, it didn’t smolder Tyler’s spirit. It’s apparent that his creativity and empathy for others has spurred him on to create relevant; meaningful works. His works are healing and audacious enough to deal with the tough stuff, the nitty-gritty issues of life. He’s a miraculous over comer, clearly on a destination! Tyler is a survivor and I pray he feels victorious, free, validated, accomplished and honored for lifting the bewildering, deadening shroud of silence. What the devil meant for evil, God obviously has other plans. Romans 8 confirms this:

More Than Conquerors

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who

"For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered."[l] 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through
him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.




Tyler’s creative work continually improves lives and gives voice to many that society deem unworthy. His stellar work in the arts, his philanthropic endeavors are to be lauded. But what many will chatter about is , “Did you hear Tyler?” Well as one conquerer to another, we can respond confidently with , “ Yes, I certainly did and do I ever appreciate him all the more!” Like Norman Hutchins sings, God’s Got a Blessing With Our Name On It! This stanza of Amazing Grace by John Newton rings true….




T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far

IT'S ALREADY ALRIGHT!



The LORD will guide you always;

he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land

I feel it in my spirit it’s already alright. Confirmation received! Proclaim it friends: it’s already alright! We walk by faith not by sight. Yolanda Adams bellowed out that song while I was headed down Settlers Landing Road, almost at my designation of work. I didn’t have to ponder what Yolanda Adams was singing or possibly why.


My spirit applauded the connection and confirmation that while we await our next assignment, board meeting discussion, funding raising endeavor, proposed business venture, arrival of our loved ones deployment assignment, scheduled court appearance, closing or foreclosure date, acceptance or rejection letter and/or medical tests results for health prognosis-depending on what you are looking for; that It’s already alright! So grateful that God can communicate, talk with us regarding our need through a song, a tune playing on the radio and we immediately understand that that was the flag being raised on our vessel traveling through life-that no matter how choppy the waters are and how the sun may or may not be blazing and beating down on our heads that it’s already alright.
So my friends it’s ok to travel in silence, hum or sing off beat as we navigate our way through the main thoroughfares and down the side streets, just be assured and comforted in your hearts that it’s already! Alright! So hang in there and turn the radio on, crank up the volume, bop your heads and jam with your favorite tune loud, strong and assured!

GOOGLE YOUR NAME!



"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11






Today friends that's just what I did, google my name! Try it you'll be amazed at what awaits you! Then I typed my name in the search box on YouTube to discover my reading of my poem Destiny by Linda Mose Meadows. This reading was at the Word4Word Anniversary celebration at Aroma's Cafe in Newport News. Generally I enjoy writing devtionals, but since attending the Word4Word Open Mics I thought I'd attempt writing poetry. We were challenged to write about "destiny". Look out Nikki, I am here!(Nikki Giovani is one of my favorite poets :-) I'm having a wonderful time actively participating in my life friends! I thank God for the wonderful opportunities and celebrations that God brings my way! I pray that you too are embracing your destinies!



DESTINY

Sharing, Hearing what the Divine has pushed her to believe,
Struggling, falling, crawling, leaning, swaying
letting one cane fall softly to the warn carpet
she reaches for her prosthesis

Before long, standing proudly and then comfortably moving toward her motorized chair
Destiny delights in newly acquainted freedom
No containing her for another neighbor's "dop-in" interrogation

"Energy to spare" is what rolls off wagging, jealous tongues
"She only got one good leg, while the others a stump!"
"She don't sit still!"
Destiny chuckles in anticipation of
Bumpy, cracked sidewalks,
unpaved roads, hard hats and Warning signs!
Secretly it's a delicious challenge, reborn joy, deep down joy
She whispers How great thou art!"

Destiny's mind races
bygone days of dancing halls, reaching for bursting peaches and walking carefree
Kicking up some dust!

She is assured:
"Greater is He that is within me!"
"For I know t
he plans I have for you!"
"You are not forsaken!"
"Those He foreknew He foreloved!"


Destiny witnesses the bewildering stares, gawking, wondering:
"Where she headed?"
Smiling, eyes twinkling
Nods her heart answers,
"I am headed somewhere, the Lord knows!"
"I'm alive, I'm alive!"

I DREAM A DREAM!



Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

Psalm 136:1



I Dreamed a Dream sung by Britain’s Susan Boyle will take your breath away. Her voice is anointed!



God has provided her with an outstanding voice. Yesterday, I took a few moments during my work day to catch-up on the world’s news and there was a story regarding this 47 year old woman, who apparently decided to entered an audition of Britain’s version of American Idle entitled: Britain’s Got Talent. And did she ever surprise and wow the audience. Needless to say it was apparent that the judges were stunned. From the looks on their faces they didn't expect that presentation!


Yes, their jaws were dragging the ground, but their hearts soared. I only learned very little of her background and discerned from the judge's questions she answered, that her mother who is now deceased encouraged her to sing and pursue her dreams. The audition and début was a result of Susan paying tribute to her mother.



Susan’s voice is that of an angel, but more importantly the song she choose I Dreamed a Dream resonated in my spirit and from the millions of Youtube site visits, others were deeply curious and emotionally touched. Her presence on stage was a testament that God is active and does fulfill His promises. Susan’s confidence and voice aren’t what the audience anticipated! She doesn't have the appearance of a stereotypical size 3 "super star" or "diva". And we do know often apperance means so much in this world! But isn’t that just like God? He displays, show-up and shows off whom ever He desires. Susan appears to be your everyday person and that's what I find so appealing, it reminds me that we can't predict who a person is , nor what they're made of! Thank you Lord!



Before long we too realize that i doesn't matter what lense the world is viewing us in because when the divine opportunity is presented for us, it's our time, our season for the realization of dreams fulfilled!


Friends, I believe that the Holy Ghost is imploring us not only to celebrate the coming success for Susan, but to see yourselves, standing confidently, assured that the Lord has greater good, a "knock your socks off " experience where you too can expect the unexpected!



Joyfully shine, shine and let the light of the Lords radiate in and through you! Yeah, sing your song and remember it’s never, never, ever too late to for your spot light moment. Dream your dreams people, build your furniture, set sail on your voyages, scale your mountains, erect your bell towers, teach the children, adopt the villages , feed your minds, and be on a hot pursuit for your passions. Susan I am singing with you!
