STAND BY ME! PLAYING FOR CHANGE

Stand By Me. Playing for Change By Roger Ridley and other Musicians

And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said,
Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem,
so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Truly friends this is a must view! You'll appreciate this singers transparent zeal, the song's sentiment, the powerful global experience on video and the concept behind the mission of the Playing for Change Campaign, something you may wish to support. I trust God that it was no accident that when I should have turned off the computer and rested my weary soul, a video caught my eye of Mr. Roger Ridgley, I clicked the triangle and was captured. I was mesmerized by the video of Stand By Me and really appreciative that Mr. Mark Johnson founder of Playing for Change realized that this musician's humanity and yes, his soul stirring voice and others was not to be ignored. I am sure you'll agree these are no ordinary street musicians and certainly no commonplace fundraising campaign. Learn all about it:

"Roger Ridley and his music embody everything that music is : soul, perseverance, and talent. He has often been called "the voice of God" by the other street musicians on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. His dedication to his audience is clear, traveling from his home in Las Vegas, Nevada to his spot in Santa Monica every Saturday and giving his best performance before returning home that night. It was Roger's performance of Stand By Me that sent Playing for Change1 off on its mission to connect the world through music by adding other musicians to his recording.

One day while walking down the promenade, Mark Johnson2, creator of "Playing for Change" heard Roger singing "Stand By Me" in the distance. He ran to witness the performance and realized that Roger's voice, soul, and passion had to be shared with the rest of the world.

Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire,
connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project rose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world."

IN THE FLOW-DOWNING GROSS CULTURAL ARTS CENTER

"Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.

Then it was said, among the nations,

"The Lord has done great things for them."

Psalm 126:2

Downing Gross Cultural Arts Center is a precious pearl that sits beautifully nestled in shell of Tidewater’s Newport News, VA. perfectly situated in the heart it’s urban community.

Oh, friends this center reminds me of a heart beat, with a new life blood joyfully pumping. It's really a new enterprising engery source circulating in Newport News. Innovative resources and progrgams are once again available to all that are interested underneathe the roof of The Downing Gross Cultural Arts Center. It's truly alive and thriving with wonderful opportunities to enrich and broaden the minds of the young and not so young persons that hunger for artistic renewal and rejuvennation!

Oh, yes I love it, can't you tell? Downtown Newport News has this unique center open to the public, and I am so proud that this community cultural arts center exists in my back yard. And more importantly it’s open and accessible to the neighborhood , guests and those in Tidewater Virginia!

It’s a marvelous facility that not only celebrates the arts, promotes cultural enrichment, but beckons the visitor to bring their family, friends, churches, classmates and classrooms again and again to partake in the myriad of outstanding activities.

I regret not having my camera with me yesterday evening during my first visit, it was a visual and performing arts banquet. I tried to register as much of the atmosphere mentally as I could stand. I eagerly awaited an evening starring Amber Fisher, Ron Jenkins and Jeffro Jam of Flow Theatre. They provided the Ella Fitzgerald Theatre audience a stellar and moving choreopoem experience. It was a powerful presentation that is forever etched in our hearts and minds. This Off Broadway Stage production of Flow Theatre's Our Young Black Men Are Dying And Nobody Seems To Care, is a unique form of Choreotheater that not only entertains, but empowers the audience to become an important part of our social solution.

I walked, ( but really was skipping in my spirit) through the modern galleries, and peaked in the ladies rooms, smiled at the guards, spoke to the visitors, laughed with my family and enjoyed the overall ambiance.Truly, truly I knew I was blessed to be there. Be sure to visit their web site to learn of the upcoming events and do frequent this place often. You just never know who you’ll meet and what you'll behold !

The doors to The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center are open folks, come on-step right in and go with the flow!

JESUS IS LOVE

Soulful Heather Headley with anointed Smokie Norful really sing and more importantly vocally celebrate Jesus is Love. This is truly an uplifting and a reassuring ballad that Jesus is love.

While googling the title of the song, it came to mind, “How do you know that Jesus is love?” I pray that your knowledge base of Jesus is not just through learned scripture but it’s experiential!

It’s a first- hand understanding that Jesus is love, light, our friend, Savior, our shepherd, healer, deliverer and authority. Depoending on your frame of reference he's that and more! It’s a “ I know that I know, that I know experience !” Yes, for many it’s a song and a walk with God, an agape love relationship that has stood the test of time where God’s love abounds daily and most certaily in our 11th hour crises. We understand that in and during our aching and grieving moments, during our lonely moments , during our trying moments and especially in your waking moments the love of Jesus is evident!

I learned of Heaven’s Inspirations website, the selected scriptures appropriately speaks and references God’s Love http://www.heavensinspirations.com/word-love.html.

Oh friends the scriptures are good and necessary, but it’s like standing in the rain with a closed umbrella, there’s not much benefit in just holding the closed umbrella in our hands during a down pour! It’s true benefit occurs during opening of the umbrella to receive shelter from the storm.

Well, I’d like to believe It’s the same with having scriptures at the stroke of a mouse or in arms reach and not doing much more than reading the words. Our help is provided when we invite Jesus’ love to be the center of our lives, and then the wonderful scriptures are tucked in our heart and realized in our souls. It's reminders of God’s love, the worth and weight of those divine instructions are beneficial if we trust the word of God, implement them, apply them, speak them, believe them for Jesus is Love. Amen
