We have heard over the past few days the call to put "Country First". More importantly leaders of our country should know that we are praying for them.
Paul told Timothy...I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I Timothy 2:1-2
This past weekend I met several of the Commonwealth of Virginia's leaders. Hosted by Congressman Bobby Scott at his Annual Labor Day Picnic. He provides this each year for the people of Newport News and his congressional district. This was the rallying call to vote for Barak Obama and the slate of Democrats in Virginia. The food, music, revelry and comradery were wonderful, but I had to remember to pray for them. Pray first that their judgments and laws are lead-ins to the people living peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Putting country first means putting God's creation first. We are the creation and deserve to live in the abundance of peace. When you hear of Country First; pray that we live in peace and that our leaders in government put God first.
